LIMITED PRINT | The Cardboard Granny

Cardboard Grannies are a painstakingly familiar sight throughout Hong Kong. In a city marked by striking socioeconomic disparity, this feeble, elderly woman represents the thousands of others who tirelessly and silently rid our streets of waste cardboard for a living. Frequently seen hunching over their rusty metal carts, stacked high with cardboard scraps and wading through heavy traffic, ‘cardboard grannies’ are a reality that has become normalized in Hong Kong. Though a sight familiar to all, they are painfully invisible in society.
 
「在繁華的香港街頭，每每見到年紀老邁、行動不便的婆婆推著沈重的手推車、彎著身子拾紙皮，為賺取微薄的收入默默耕耘。在香港這個貧富懸殊的大都會裡，不少長者自食其力，依靠撿紙皮為生；她們的身影隨處可見，然而，在香港社會裡卻彷彿完全透明。」
